Case and Reflection – Understanding Placemaking
For examples on gentrification, negotiation of place and power relations, read the case The Men’s Home and Spatial Segregation from Copenhagen.

Based on the case of The Men’s Home, your work with the three-dimensional understanding of place, and the perspective of Placemaking (and the right to the city):
- Make a visual representation of the relevant stakeholders regarding the small area, where H17 is placed in the section “Part 1 – We’re all mad here” in the Men’s Home case.
- Reflect on the different stakeholder’s Sense of Place based on the empirical information from the case; What does the place mean to the different stakeholders and why?
- Reflect on the power dynamics between the stakeholders; who gains and who looses and by which mechanisms of power?
- Is this desirable? What – if anything – should or could be done?
