Exercise guide 2
The exercises for this theme, consists of:
- The Case The Men’s Home and Spatial Segregation.
- Visualization exercise
- Writing exercises
- Reflection and discussion questions
- Analyzing and Planning in your own context
Depending on whether you take the theme alone or as a part of a group, there are different approaches to working with the content:
If you work with this theme alone

If you work alone do this as a written exercise, approximately 1 page of illustration, 2 pages of written reflection. You can supplement your work by using the illustration from the section Definition of Placemaking, which provides an impression of the processes of city planning, placemaking, and the Right to the City (see also the theme of gentrification for more on this topic).
The exercise in your own work context can be done alone, but will preferably be a collaboration with one or more service users. Guidelines for the work are in the exercise.
If you work with this theme as a group
If you take this module as part of a group, start by reading the case before you meet. In your meeting do the first exercise jointly (case and reflection), both the visualization, reflection, and discussion. For the second exercise (your own work context) choose to do the analysis for a specific service user or a target group together. Based on the exercise:
- Start a group dialogue on how the dimension of Place can bring knowledge of the context of the service users and their interconnectedness to places and people
- Make a written resume of your discussions and choose 1-3 conclusions to follow up on during your upcoming staff meetings.
